I went out for a run this morning and ran quickly into construction, got yelled at for going the wrong way and ended up having to cut through a parking garage and the Planet Hollywood casino floor to make my way back to Bally’s. Picture Ferris and his fence-leaping skills, though with less backyard and more blackjack. Hit me.
Next up was The Flamingo for breakfast, then Mom and I lounged by the pool for a greater part of the morning/early afternoon. Much needed relief for our barking tourist dogs. Then we headed downtown to see Fremont Street, the original Vegas Strip. It depressed us more than anything, kinda like visiting Coney Island. Former scene-leading attractions that have clearly passed their hayday. However, I did love the Golden Nugget (venue for today’s Beverage Break) and seeing ol’ “Vegas Vic” flip me the thumb.
After dinner tonight a flashy Vegas lightbulb finally started blinking above Ruff’s head.
Ruff: “How long have we been here?”
Pance: “Two days.”
Ruff: “Feels like two years.”
Ah, yes. He gets it. He really, really gets it.
