Today we bid farewell to the Grand Canyon as we headed south and east to Albuquerque, New Mexico. We took the looooooong way, traveling through Hopi and Navajo Indian reservations. Again we discussed the “nothingness,” and drove in awe of the flat vastness that surrounded our Hyundai. About 40 miles out from ABQ a rainbow picked us up and escorted us all the way to our hotel. In lieu of a pot o’ coin, we had a welcoming basket of 2 baby bottles of wine and a baby bottle of margarita. Liquid gold, after 10+ hours in the car, all the more rewarding.

Those of you who are loyal GoGoPance followers will remember when I was here last October at the beginning of the big western Pance-a-Palooza trip. The cousins I stayed with (Toots & Scott) are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Naturally, they’re throwing a huge weekend-long fiesta. Let the crazy family times begin.

goodbye GC
